Rescue From Eternal Danger

I was on my way to the farm to go and harvest the little maize plot that I had cultivated. I was on the motorcycle and as I was about getting to a spot where I would branch in to enter the farm, my thought suddenly drifted to one Fulani man in the community. What about him? I muted. Then I seemed to hear on my inside, TURN BACK. Turn back? Why? The inner witness added: TURN BACK, HIS LIFE IS IN DANGER! So after packing along the road junction for a brief while, I decided to obey and turn back to the community.
Normally it’s a Fulani (cow) market day called Kara, a day when an average Fulani man would quit every other activity to go to the cow market whether he has an animal to sell or not. I got to the man’s house, he was lying on the bed and hadn’t gone to Kara Market as usual. His complaint was headaches and then someone borrowed his motorcycle and delayed returning it.
This man is at least medically not in any danger, I muted. But after a brief of showing care and concern, I began to tell him about his need for Christ just as every other man living is in grave need of the Saviour. I have talked for a while about personal stories of what Jesus had done for me as a follower of His and then I turned to ask him a question: BUT WHY IS IT THAT YOU DON’T WANT CHRIST? He responded, I never said I don’t want Christ.
I quickly shared more with him about how to become a follower of Christ and some things about what the Scripture says about the terms of discipleship. Repentance as a sinner and faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and surrendering one’s life to Him and His teachings as One’s Lord and Saviour! There, we knelt together as I led him to pray the prayer of Salvation. There his discipleship began.
Many Fulani have strong faces and hatred saturates their countenance, however, there is an unquantifiable desperation for peace and assurance of deliverance from the perpetual oppression of demons. Missionaries simply need to act in faith and boldness and dare to engage these people with the love of Christ and there will be many coming to follow Christ. Jesus is willing to save the unsaved, let us join Him. Owoseni Amos
